Gottfried out of line
March 16, 2011 - Bennet Goldstein
Comedian Gilbert Gottfried went over the edge recently in several Twitter posts that were highly insensitive to the crisis going on in Japan. Gottfried tweeted about people floating in the water and other over-the-top jokes and ended up being fired as the voice for the Aflac Insurance duck. I think it’s sad when your career is so low that the only thing that can be taken away when you mess up is your gig as the voice of a commercial duck. He has since apologized for his insensitive remarks and who knows why he did it. All I know is when they are still counting the dead bodies it is way too soon to joke about it, if there ever will be a time that is appropriate. Maybe he was craving the spotlight that seems to miss him nowadays. It is sad that every new day in Japan brings with it more bad news and the last thing that country needs to be is mocked from a borderline comedian.
