OK, that’s how you do a cliffhanger
May 17, 2011 - Pam Rodgers
I have never been overly fond of the big cliffhangers, but I do appreciate a good one when I see one, even when it leaves me in tears. Castle season three finale did just that. It was intense and suspenseful with one the characters making his/her last stand for the badge and even then the twists weren’t over.
To keep episode “pure” I won’t reveal anything. The intensity of the hour speaks for itself if you happen to catch it. The whole cast was at the top their games in this episode delivering one of the best episodes ever. The case centered around Beckett’s mother death, a long running plot of the show. The whole case comes to a head as more people involved turn up dead.
The case has a certain affect on Beckett and Castle seems to be the only one who can help her with it. He is her voice a reason even when she doesn’t want to hear it. Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion have that dynamic nailed. While they don’t express their feelings for each other, it is there in their words and actions. It a fantastic thing to behold.
The final scene of the episode had me slipping off my couch to the floor in tears of what was happening. It was so powerful and yet something that definitely needs to be fixed. I was speechless. It makes me want the summer to zoom by so I can see what is going to happen to my beloved characters.
Show creator Andrew Marlowe is vacationing for the summer in Maui and tweeted that he plans to stay off twitter to avoid the haters tweets. He has good reason after a final scene like that.
