Big weekend in store for Central Iowa

Well then it's a good thing you live in Central Iowa because there's plenty going on.

Friday and Saturday, Marshalltown is once again hosting the Iowa State BBQ Championships at Riverview Park on Marshalltown's north side. Plenty of entertainment and food will be on hand for BBQ goers of all ages and, once again this year, you can enjoy free smells. The BBQ championships always prove to be a great time and it's great to see it back in the city for the 14th year running.

From Thursday through Sunday, you can make a quick trip up to Gladbrook for the community's 90th Corn Carnival; after you visit the BBQ championships, of course. The community has put together many fun activities for the weekend and the parade will take place Friday evening.

Summer starts the beginning of a ton of different festivals and community gatherings. Break away from your house for awhile and take the kids to one of these family-friendly events. It's worth the time.
