Ready for birthday weekend

September 21, 2012 - Andy Heintz
The day I turn 32 is quickly approaching. And I have begun the process of figuring out what to do.

This afternoon, I saw a preview for a new movie coming out that very weekend and it rocketed to the top of the list for things I would love to do at some point during the weekend.

It is a sequel and I absolutely loved the first one. The movie is Taken 2 and its stars Liam Neeson. The first installment was action-packed and Neeson's character just flat out kicked you know what. I assume the second one is going to be very similar to the original and that is Ok. The first one was great so I am sure the second one will be just as good or even better. In this movie, instead of Neeson's daughter getting "taken" it appears from the previews that both she and her mother get snatched.

I love action-packed movies with a lot of fight scenes. Taken 2 likely won't win any Oscars, but it doesn't have to for me to enjoy it.

The best thing about the birthday weekend -- my birthday falls on Thursday, Oct. 4 -- is that my beloved Hawkeyes are off that week and Iowa State plays on the road. So the T-R will not be covering those teams and allows for more freedom in the schedule. Marshalltown football also is off that week, but I will find another high school game to cover.

Turning 32 won't be anything too historic and it really isn't an absolute huge deal to me. But a good way to spend an evening with the wife to celebrate my birth will be to see Taken 2.

And she liked the first one so it shouldn't be too tough of a sell.
