Hope you enjoyed it
March 17, 2013 - Wes Burns
As I am writing this it is St. Patrick's Day.
Did you have fun yesterday? I say yesterday because, technically, St. Patrick's Day is Sunday (today) and unless you celebrate some bizarre, non-alcohol based St. Patrick's Day and/or are unemployed, then chance are you did your celebrating last night.
I know I did.
I hope you all had a chance to enjoy St. Patrick's Day because its going to be your last chance for a long time.
That's right: We have now entered the dreaded holiday doldrums. St. Patrick's Day is the emerald green “good bye” to the holiday season that starts with Halloween.
We get the roller coaster ride of good times and bad food from Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas to New Years to Valentine's Day to St. Patrick's Day to … nothing.
Nothing at all. At least not until Independence Day.
You know what? Its been a cold, long winter that is still happening; I think we need another holiday before July … maybe early.
This is why I think we all need to get behind Cinco de Mayo. It celebrates a military defeat for the French, which everybody can get behind. There are drink specials, an excuse to eat some top shelf Mexican food and, best of all, it fits in nicely with the total lack of holidays in the springtime.
So this year as you put away your blinking Irish beads back in the Drawer of Shame think about what you're going to do come May 5th. I know I'll be celebrating … but I don't really want to think about celebrating anything right now; I think I'm just going to go back to bed.
