Age is just a number

October 23, 2013 - Pam Rodgers

This past Monday, my older brother hit a milestone birthday — he turned 30.

It was hard for me to get into all of the ribbing knowing that my turn would be coming soon enough. James is better at dishing out the sarcastic remarks, so I want to stay on his good side. Hopefully he will direct most of the barbs toward my sister instead of me. You may be thinking that since she’s my twin it makes little difference. Oh believe, it does, especially since I’m the older twin.

Being the good sister I am, I bought him pizza for lunch on his birthday. It helped to hide the fact that I hadn’t bought his gift yet. (Shh, don’t tell him. Being sick last week really cut into my shopping time.)

We celebrated his birthday with the whole family last Saturday. We haven’t celebrated every birthday with the whole crew, well not since we were little. It’s the milestone birthdays that bring us all together now. My Uncle Rick and James share a birthday, so it made it easier to get the whole family together. Rick was celebrating his 50th birthday so he took some of the heat off my brother. It was a nice evening of laughs with the Fam.

I have been blessed in the big brother department. He would do anything for me. A fact I don’t take for granted because I know I would do the same for him. He may be 30, but that number doesn’t change who he is. It just means he has made it one more year as the best big brother a girl could ask for.

OK, that’s enough mushiness for one blog. If I say too much more it may go to his head.

Blog Photos

The lighting was bad for photos in the party room but the picture is still priceless. I also love that my cousin's 1 year old son photobombed them. Baze totally stole the show!
