A purrfect companion

October 31, 2013 - Brett Van Waus
Two weekends ago I welcomed Lilly, a 9-year-old, 15lb. cat into my home. She is the cat of my dreams, a gray, calico Garfield. I adopted her from the Animal Rescue League in Des Moines, she was there for two months. When I saw her chubby cheeks, large paws and big belly it was love at first sight. She likes to eat, take pictures with me, sleep, purr and most importantly cuddle. When I sit down to watch a show or game she plops herself on my lap and just purrs. A lot of people think it’s really nice that I adopted an older cat. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being that she is older she doesn’t need to be trained. She uses her liter box (a lot) and she doesn’t jump on the tables or counters. Being that I have never had a cat of my own I was told all the in-and-outs taking care of Lilly. The animal shelter also does a great job of taking care of the animals and preparing you to do the same. I am a firm believer in adopting animals, cats or dogs, if you can take care of them. Animals deserve good homes, if you can, always adopt. I am so happy with my cat and she is happy with me, she really is a purrfect companion.
