Continuing to honor World War II veterans

November 12, 2013 - Andrew Potter

The special World War II veterans program at West Marshall High School Monday brought back memories of last year’s Eastern Iowa Honor Flight I was privileged enough to be a part of. I still like to think about all the wonderful veterans I got to meet on that trip and how tickled they were to fly to Washington, D.C. to see the World War II Memorial. Many of whom are slowing down a bit, but many are still going strong as they are in their 80s and 90s. I vow to try to continue to follow up with many of these veterans to tell their story in the T-R. They are not called “The Greatest Generation” for nothing. Their service to our country at a crucial time in its history should never go unnoticed.
