A March Madness foolproof plan
January 23, 2014 - Brett Van Waus
Even though it’s more than a month away, Tuesday, Warren Buffet announced he was going to give one billion dollars to someone with a perfect March Madness bracket. A billion dollars is a lot of money and little did you know, this T-R reporter has the inside scoop on a way get a pretty solid bracket. The plan is said to be foolproof. I had never been a big fan of college basketball, nor have I filled out March Madness brackets before. Last year, my best friend from college and the biggest sports fan I know, made me fill one out. To him I had a rare gift. He told me the teams playing against each other and cringed as he wrote down who I thought would win. The winners were based off uniform colors, mascots and states I liked. I remember ranking Harvard high because one of my favorite athletes and an ex-Knicks player, Jeremy Lin, went to school there. He chuckled and actually tweeted about my particular choice and reason. Harvard did advance. My lack of knowledge, over thinking and biases made for a somewhat successful bracket. I predicted Georgetown the winner, they didn’t win, but some of my choices were solid. Although getting a perfect bracket is probably impossible, I encourage everyone to fill one out anyway. After all, it is March Madness, anything can happen.
