Date night turns into daughter night
March 24, 2014 - Andy Heintz
I didn’t think it was going to be that hard. But it certainly was.
The other night, my sister-in-law volunteered to watch my wife and I’s nearly 16-month-old daughter so we could have date night.
Sounds simple enough right? It was anything but.
We hit up a restaurant that one of us had never been to and the other one hadn’t been there since back in my early 20s. Going to Granite City wasn’t the hard part.
The hard part was trying to figure out what to do afterwards. And we were purposely avoiding a movie because that always seems to become the default.
We aren’t heavy into the bar scenes anymore. And it was rainy and chilly night outside.
After not coming to any good ideas, we decided to go to Toys-R-Us and use a gift card for our daughter.
So, on a night where we didn’t have to focus on Aubrey, we decided to somehow still make it about her.
It’s funny how your life changes when you have kids. Even when we are away from her, she is still the most important thing in our lives.
By the way, she is starting to walk more and more every day and really enjoys her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
But it could be worse, right?
