New ‘X-Men’ was entertaining
June 4, 2014 - Pam Rodgers
Last weekend, I went to see the new X-Men movie, “X-Men: Days a Future Past.” It was a great mix of the young mutants we met in “First Class” and the originals for the first trilogy of the early 2000s.
Whoever crafted the story did a good job molding everything together so it made sense, well mostly anyway. They left out a few explanations, especially with the older crew, but that is relatively moot by the end of the film (if you’ve seen the movie you know what I am talking about).
The time travel elements worked. Anytime you put Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine at the center of the story, you are off the a good start. From start to finish, I enjoyed the film. It was your typical superhero movie, which works perfectly for me.
The conclusion left a lot of plot lines open for future movies, for both the young and original cast. Judging by the box office reaction, I have a feeling a new X-Men movie won’t be too far away.
