Fun at the ball park
June 11, 2014 - Pam Rodgers
It’s a rare thing to have such beautiful weather three days in a row for baseball. Usually, it’s too hot or cold or it rains. For this year’s annual Kansas City trip, it was 73 degrees and beautiful.
It’s great to get the chance to hang out at a ball park and not only see the baseball game, but share it live with thousands of people. Baseball itself hasn't changed much, but everything surrounding the game continues to evolve thanks mainly to the technological world we live in. It’s crazy to think how much has changed just in my lifetime.
As always, it was great to see my team, the New York Yankees in action (even though they are struggling a little at the moment). It is Derek Jeter’s final year, and just as with Mariano Rivera last season, I had to see him in action at least one last time before he takes his place in Memorial Park.
It’s still odd for me to think about his retirement. Once he hangs it up, all the Yankees of my childhood will be gone. But, I have the rest of the season to deal with that.
The Kansas City trip was another good one. I always enjoy my time at The K. I hope we can keep this annual streak alive!
