| | Hats off for greatness!September 12, 2009 - Pam RodgersI have been watching the Yankees as long as I can remember. I probably saw games even before I could walk and talk. My family has enjoyed many Yankees games in our time and has taken plenty of ribbing for being associated with the Bombers. I am happy to say I have seen Derek Jeter’s entire career. I may not have understood fully what I was witnessing when I was an 8 year old watching his rookie season. But to see him surpass Lou Gehrig, one the all-time greatest Yankee legends, is extremely special. I have known for awhile that Jeter was a special baseball player, but he has reached a truly incredible milestone in his career. Number 2 will always be associated with his name now. It’s guaranteed not another Yankee will have the number; it will be in Monument Park where it belongs many years down the road when Jeter finally hangs up the cleats. Congratulations to Derek and his accomplishment and here’s hoping for many more to come! Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
