Just when I thought I watched enough TV

March 1, 2010 - Pam Rodgers

Those who have read my blogs know that I enjoy a fair number of television shows. They have been a consistent topic for me. I thought I had a good number of shows to tune in to and wasn’t looking to start anything new. However, I didn’t know about “The Big Bang Theory” at the time. It has been on the air for two full years and is currently in its third season. I had seen previews occasionally when I was watching other CBS shows but I never tried it out. Then one random Monday night before the Olympics and after football, I was looking for something to watch. I have occasionally caught a Two and Half Men episode so I turned on the end of one. After it was over, I left it on the TV not really having another alternative. That’s when Big Bang Theory came on and hooked me in from the start.
I haven’t watched a true comedy television series consistently since Friends went off the air way back when. I can now say for certain that I have found a new one to watch. It is great comedy.
The characters are all nerdy scientists with the exception of Penny who lives across the hall from Sheldon and Leonard (similar scenario to Friends, right). The other two geeky friends are Raj and Howard and the show focuses around this groups’ interactions on a daily basis. All of the brainiacs work at Cal Tech and professors and researchers. The writers are excellent and very clever. I don’t always understand the physics that is being discussed, but it is done in such a way that makes it incredibly enjoyable.
The geeky banter and jokes are just too funny to not get hooked. It is on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m. on CBS. Anyone looking for a good laugh should tune in.
