Building my ark

I know I complained endlessly about the winter and the amount of snow we got. Now it seems that my complaints were valid and have caused me to focus my woe on a different gift from Mother Nature. With the Flood of 2008 fresh in my memory, I know that I didn’t care for it at all. I really don’t want to deal with all that water ... again. I hope all of this flood talk is just that, talk. It would be nice if we could catch our first break this winter. However, I believe that thought is in vain.
The whole winter, I had a winter storm bag packed and ready if there was ever a need to stay in Marshalltown rather than travel home to Garwin. Last week, I unpacked the bag, happy that the sunshine had returned and was taking away the necessity of a winter bag. This week, the bag is repacked as a flood ready bag just in case I can’t get home.
It’s is frustrating not knowing for sure what could happen. The winter has been tedious enough and now the threat of flooding is a true possibility. I can’t wait for this next threat to be behind us so we may enjoy some nice warm weather in the summer months. May cannot get here fast enough.
