There is no doubt this economy is hitting school districts hard across the state. Just take a look at our neighbors to the south. The Newton school board just voted to close one of its elementary schools.
I just heard the Dubuque school district is planning on laying off more than 100 staff members. I guess the Marshalltown area has been relatively fortunate so far. According to Business Manager Kevin Posekany no big job cuts are planned for the Marshalltown district this year. Just some things to think about as it could be worse in the area.
