Another family tradition
May 10, 2010 - Pam Rodgers
As with most holidays, my mother’s side of the family has an annual tradition that involves everyone. Mother’s Day is no different. It is a day that everyone once again convenes at my grandma’s farm house in Montezuma to share in a noon time meal and family activities. On Mother’s Day, it is a work day to get my grandma’s farm ready for summer. Flowers are planted, trees and bushes are trimmed, the yard is mowed, this year a barn needed painting and anything else that needs to be taken care of gets done. While it seems a lot of work for one day, we have a crew of 25 plus workers that can get things done rather quickly. A lot history and memories are revolved around my grandma’s house, and it's great to help look after it. Grandma lives there by herself and doesn’t need to worry about outside chores. While she always says that we don’t have to work too hard, it is the family’s way to thank the most important member of the Bushong family.
