| | Packed house at casino decisionMay 13, 2010 - Andrew PotterI made my way down to Johnston Thursday for the casino license announcement by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission where Tama County came up short of a license. Thirty minutes before the announcement the room was half full. Then a storm of people and television cameras came in. In was standing room only as hundreds of people were there from all over the state in a hotel ballroom and I tried to keep from tripping over TV camera cords. There were a lot of sad looks on faces in the crowd after three of the locations were rejected casino licenses. The commission did offer one license to Lyon County but felt the rest of the locations already had plenty of opportunities to gamble. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article.
