Back at the movies
November 15, 2010 - Pam Rodgers
I love movies. I love going to the movie theater. So imagine my surprise when I realized this weekend I was going to my first movie since Eclipse (Twilight 3) in July ... July 4 to be exact. It’s not that there hasn’t been movies out that I didn't want to see. There have been several movie trailers that piqued my interest, but I always seem to have other plans or work on the days I can go to the cinema. Anyway, the movie that broke the three-month drought was RED (Retired Extremely Dangerous). It's has been out for a few weeks but the whole family has been wanting to see it. It is an action comedy that I really enjoyed. Bruce Willis plays the lead. He is a retired CIA agent that has all of sudden got a burn notice on him. So he spends the movie trying to figure out why the agency is trying to kill him, enlisting the help of former operatives on the way )played by Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich). It’s a true all star cast in my opinion. It was a very entertaining movie. It had drama, comedy, romance and an intriguing plot line. You can’t ask for much more than that. It’s not a movie that would be praised endlessly by the critics, but often times, those are my favorite movies. I like having that escape and entertainment for two hours and it doesn’t have to change the film industry as we know it. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to see good actors with good material and those who aren’t afraid to laugh!
