So I caught about half of the first show in the new season of “Survivor” on CBS Wednesday night. One thing I always wondered is why do they have to have such freaky tribe names. I know they must mean something to the local area they are playing the game in but they are hard to remember for the viewer. This year’s tribe names are Zapatera and Ometepe. See what I mean. And guess what, they also brought back two former players to take part in the action this year. “Survivor” tends to recycle players for the All-Star challenges, but I guess these guys needed yet another chance. Yes Boston Rob and Russell have interesting personalities but isn’t it time to give other people a shot? That being said from what I saw this season has promise, with or without the implementation of something called “Redemption Island” where voted out players can work their way back into the game. There is really only one for sure thing in the game — host Jeff Probst will think he is really funny and witty with his play-by-play comments during the challenges. Bank on that one.
