Hawks drub Florida International

IOWA CITY — For the second straight week, Iowa blew its opponent out of the water and provided hope that better days are just around the corner.
Ricky Stanzi appeared to do the same in the competition to be the Hawkeyes starting quarterback.
Stanzi threw three touchdowns passes in his first start, Shonn Greene ran for 130 yards on just 13 carries and Iowa pounded Florida International 42-0 for its second straight blowout victory.
The Hawkeyes, who routed Maine 46-3 last week, looked even better against the hapless Golden Panthers. Stanzi, who got the start over Jake Christensen, was 8-of-10 for 162 yards in less than a half as the Hawkeyes (2-0) racked up 512 yards and led 35-0 at halftime.
Christensen came on and was 8-of-12 for 99 yards and one touchdown despite a handful of shaky throws — a problem that’s plagued him during his career at Iowa.

IOWA CITY — It looks like Iowa will go to a quarterback platoon for at least another week.
