EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Natural Resources Department says a boil advisory has been issued for Burlington and West Burlington because of a water main break.
The break on Sunday caused parts of the system to lose pressure. It's recommended that tap water be boiled before using for cooking, drinking and the brushing of teeth or that an alternative source such as bottled water be used.
The main has been repaired, but the department says the advisory will remain until two sets of bacteria samples show the water is safe.
Residents of several Iowa cities have been advised to boil their water because of similar problems, including those in Bondurant, Brighton and Wilton.
