LaDonna M. Hendrick, 80

MCCALLSBURG — LaDonna Mae Hendrick, 80, died April 12, 2008, at Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard.


Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Zearing. Burial will be in Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing in handling her arrangements.


LaDonna was born Sept. 22, 1927, in rural St. Anthony, Iowa, to Dave and Agnes (Lyons) Tucker. She was a graduate of Liberty Consolidated School in 1945. On Feb. 27, 1949, she married Albert Hendrick at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Iowa. The couple farmed their entire married life in the Story County and Nevada area until Albert’s death in March 1998 after 49 years of marriage. Donna worked at NESCO Community School District as the school secretary until her retirement in July 1989.


She thoroughly enjoyed being with and helping young people. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Donna was a member of the McCallsburg Legion Auxiliary Post #334 of McCallsburg and a active member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Zearing. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.


Donna is survived by a daughter, Cathy (Bob) Ziebell of Hubbard; two sons, Gary (Kelly) Hendrick of McCallsburg and Mark (Pam) Hendrick Of McCallsburg; six grandchildren: Amy (Austin) Paris of Eldora, Jason Ziebell, Gannon Hendrick, Brandon and Dana Hendrick, Jill Hendrick and Bryce Hendrick; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Logan Faris; three sisters, Doris Womeldorff of McCallsburg, Mary (Ed) Faris of New Providence and Myrna (Kent) Boom of Corona del Mar, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Martha Norman of Lamoni; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.


Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; granddaughter, Allison Ziebell; and brothers-in-law, Howard Norman and Curt Womeldorff.
