Tiger soccer falls 1-0 to Richland
By TIMES-REPUBLICAN STAFFDALLAS - One night removed from a 2-0 soccer win over NJCAA D-I No. 2 Tyler Junior College, No. 4 Marshalltown Community College fell to the host Richland Thunderducks 1-0 in overtime here Friday.
The Tigers held the D-III No. 12 Thunderducks to a stalemate in regulation play.
Entering overtime the game remained scoreless until MCC (7-1-1) scored an own-goal to end the game.
Tigers head coach Marcelo Serrano made a bold move by starting his second team. Despite this being MCC's only loss of the season Serrano was pleased with his team's performance.
"I started my second team and they performed well, we just got unlucky in overtime," he said. "I wanted to give them experience in a good, national competition."
The Tigers stay in Dallas to face D-I No. 6 San Jacinto South on Sunday.
