After years without a town celebration, Garwin Freedom Days returned last year and drew about 500 people to the three-day festival wrapped around the July 4th holiday.

It is back this year as a two-day festival starting today and continuing Saturday.

Most of the events will take place in the city park in the center of downtown Garwin.

"It's really all about the community," said Tammie Anderson, president of the Freedom Days committee. "There's five of us on the committee who brought this back last year for the community."

Children's inflatables and food vendors will be in park throughout today beginning at 11 a.m. with professional wrestling at the park at 3:30 p.m.

A teen dance will be held and music by JJ Ace band will take place tonight.

Saturday there will be events in the park throughout the day ending with a performance by Loose Neutral at 9 p.m. with fireworks at dark.

Anderson said many of the events are free and anything that does have a cost will be inexpensive.

"We wanted everything to be affordable for families," she said.
