TEA party tries again Tuesday

August 9, 2009
By ANDREW POTTER, TIMES-REPUBLICAN

Marshalltown TEA Party, take two.

After seeing a previously planned event get washed out by the rain, organizers of the local TEA Party are preparing to be back at it again at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Marshall County Courthouse lawn.

TEA stands for Taxed Enough Already and many of these gatherings have been popping up across the country.

"There were over 2,000 of these parties in the country but ours was rained out and we still had 150 people show up," said Jane Jech, one of the event organizers.

Jech said visitors can expect to hear "a lot of information about issues on the national and state level."

"They are also going to hear what they can do about it," she said.

Jech said a few of the issues they will touch on are increased energy and health care costs and taxes in general.

She noted the event is a non-partisan gathering and will include patriotic music. For more information visit www.marshalltownteaparty.com
