Ellen Leota Sorensen, 82 of Nevada died on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at the Story County Medical Center Senior Care. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada.

Ellen was born on May 3, 1927, in Moulton to Benjamin Frank and Mary Alice (Batheny) Dwight. She was a Nevada High School graduate. On Aug. 10, 1947, Ellen married Harry Richard "Dick" Sorenson in Nevada. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church and past member of the Moose Lodge. Ellen enjoyed playing cards, baking and sewing.

Ellen is survived by 2 sons, Larry Sorensen of Nevada and Dan Sorensen of Pilot Mound; 2 daughters, Marlene Bonzer of Liscomb and Donna Dean of Nevada; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ruth Harrigan of Des Moines and Alma Jene Willis of Richland Hills, Texas.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick Sorensen on Oct. 22, 2001, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.

A memorial fund has been established in Ellen's name.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with Ellen and her family.
