KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Marshalltown Community College women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season over the weekend, going 1-1 at the MCC-Penn Valley tournament.
The Tigers (3-1) fell to Carl Albert State College - an NJCAA Division I program - 96-75 on Friday evening. Freshman Tracey Williams led MCC with 19 points and sophomore Kwinnyata Mercer added 15 points.
The Tigers took down Butler, another D-I school, by a 76-64 score on Saturday afternoon. Mercer went for a team-high 23 points, Williams added 18 more and Shannon Lee chipped in 12 in the victory.
Marshalltown plays its home opener on Wednesday night against the South Australia Sports Institute.
