GIRLS GOLF: Van Dyk medals, STC girls take second at PCM invite

MONROE - South Tama's Taylor Van Dyk was the medalist and the Trojans were second in the team race at the PCM girls' golf invite Thursday.

Van Dyk had the day's top round of 41 on the Gateway Golf Course (par 37). Kourtne Smith shot 52 for STC, Brittney Stadler 55 and Jen Moss 57.

The team title went to Grinnell with a 193. South Tama was second (205), Colfax-Mingo third (213) and Albia fourth (214) in the eight-team event.

Cougars win area tri

UNION - AGWSR shot a 193 total to win a girls' golf triangular meet with BCLUW and GMG Thursday.

Stacy Bergeson and Kayla Clawson both finished with 45s at the South Hardin Rec Area to lead the Cougars. Bergeson was the medalist and Clawson the runner-up. Katie Schachterle added a 51 and Mikayla Jones 52.

BCLUW was second at 207, led by Michelle Keller's 48. Maddie Olson shot 49 and the Comets got two 55s (Morgan Trinkle and Brianne Benjamin).

GMG finished third (267). Sierra Richter led the Wolverines with her 60.

Trojans win triangular

STATE CENTER - The West Marshall girls' golf team got a medalist round of 50 from Shawna Pfantz on its way to winning a triangular meet over Roland-Story and Ogden Thursday at Lincoln Valley Golf Course.

The Trojans totaled a 217 team score to hold off Roland-Story (223). Ogden only played three golfers, including runner-up medalist Miriam Rinehart (51).

Adding to Pfantz's low round was Taylor Davis with a 54, Abbey Sheer with 55 and Taylor Sinning's 58.

Falcon Invitational

PARKERSBURG - Two players finishing in the top four helped the BCLUW girls' golf team to a second-place finish at the seven-team Falcon Invitational held Tuesday at Legend Trail Golf Club.

Michelle Keller tied for first place but took second to Aplington-Parkersburg's Rachel Patterson, both with rounds of 42.

West Marshall's Taylor Davis was third overall with a 47, while BCLUW's Maddie Olson was fourth with the same score.

Wapsie Valley was first (180), followed by BCLUW (198), Dike-New Hartford (206), West Marshall (209), Aplington-Parkersburg (212), Gladbrook-Reinbeck (232) and GMG (269).

Lauren Bengen led G-R with a 50, good for sixth place, while Sierra Richter's 59 was tops for GMG.
