Incidents

On Friday, Melissa Edith Potter, 505 S. 5th St., reported the theft of a Toro two-stage snowblower from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $200.

On Friday, an employee with Car Quest of Marshalltown, 2901 S. Center St. #1, reported the theft of a John Deere crankshaft and a International crankshaft. Estimated value of loss was $1,600.

Citations

On Saturday, Adam Eugene Harris, 6 N. 5th St., was cited for theft, 5th degree from Kum & Go, 1116 E. Nevada St.

On Thursday, Joshua Mark Casey, 2320 S. 5th Ave., was cited for harassment via cell phone.

Arrests

On Saturday, Ashley Lynn Holdsworth, 602 N. 4th Ave., was arrested for theft, 5th degree from Wal-Mart.

On Saturday, Jessica Lynn Johnson, 602 N. 4th Ave., was arrested for theft, 5th degree from Wal-Mart.

Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Alyxia Dawn Loney, 911 W. State St., was northbound on the Frontage Road at the intersection with Southridge Road when it entered the intersection and collided with a vehicle driven by Juanita Ferne Harre, 1107 Washington St., which was traveling west on Southridge Road and then left the scene. No injuries were reported. Loney was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway and leaving the scene of an accident. Damage to the Loney car was estimated at $1,000 while the Harre vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

On Saturday, a car driven by Mu Preh, of Des Moines, was northbound on North 10th Avenue stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with East State Street when it entered the intersection and collided with a minivan driven by Ramon C. Garcia, 207 N. 13th Ave. No injuries were reported. Preh was cited for violation of an instruction permit and failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $4,000 each.

On Jan. 4, a car driven by Dylan Michael Aswegan, of Tama, was exiting a parking spot at Hy-Vee when it collided with an unattended parked car and left the scene. No injuries were reported. Aswegan was later cited for striking an unattended vehicle and no insurance-accident. Damage to the Aswegan car was estimated at $500 while the unattended parked vehicle received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Jan. 10

Diego Nunez-Flores, 4 W. Nevada St., made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for a Pre-Trial Conference charge. Eric Bidwell was appointed to represent him in this case. The Trial and Pre-Trial Conference were rescheduled to 9 a.m. on March 3 and 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 25, respectively. Bond was set at $2,000 cash only.

Matthew Michael Blink, 209 S. 6th St., made an initial appearance on a probation violation/credit card fraud charge. Joanie Grife was appointed by the court to represent him in this case. A Probation Revocation Hearing was set for 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 25. Blink was released on his own recognizance.

Crystal Marie Phipps, 408 W. High St. Lot #10, made an initial appearance on a theft, 4th degree charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her case. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Phipps was released on her own recognizance.

Dana Eller, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule II Controlled substance (meth) with intent to deliver charge, a drug tax stamp violation charge, a prohibited acts charge, a carrying weapons charge and a driving under suspension charge. Eller will hire Ted Hoglan to represent him on the possession of a Schedule II Controlled substance with intent to deliver charge, the drug tax stamp violation charge, the prohibited acts charge and the carrying a weapons charge. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 20. Bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

On the driving under suspension charge, Eller pled not guilty and a Pre-Trial Conference was set for 9 a.m. on Jan. 25. Bond was set at $10,000 cash only.

Derek Joshua Lovan, 404 Melody Lane Apt. #4, made an initial appearance on a theft, 5th degree charge and a interference with official acts charge. He pled guilty to both charges. On the theft, 5th degree charge, the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due immediately. The fine on the interference with official acts charge was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately. The court allowed on both charges for monthly installment payments of $50 beginning Feb. 7 until completion.

Ronald S. Harris, 1202 S. 1st St., made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana) charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Harris was released on his own recognizance with the condition that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Ashley Lynn Holdsworth, 602 N. 4th Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft, 4th degree charge and a theft, 5th degree charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing was set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Bond will continue as posted.
