PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Marshalltown Community College softball team captured a split with NJCAA Division II No. 5 Parkland College (Ill.) to cap its spring trip on Friday.

The Tigers (3-5) defeated Parkland 8-3 in Friday's opener, but the Cobras retaliated with a 6-3 win in the nightcap.

Marshalltown slugger Cayla Collins collected her second home run of the season in game one. Rachel Robinson allowed only one earned run in the victory.

Hally Lenzine picked up two RBIs in MCC's loss in game two. Taylor Daubenberger suffered the loss.

Marshalltown returns home to the Midwest but will go on the road for its next three doubleheaders, traveling to face the William Penn junior varsity on Tuesday, Indian Hills on Thursday and Dakota County Technical College (Rosemount, Minn.) on Saturday.

The Tigers' home opener is slated for March 22 against Southeastern at 3:30 p.m.
