Alliant Energy said it has completed much of the major work to get power restored to homes, but the next steps will be tedious and not as fast.
"We are still making progress, but it's slow going now," said Scott Drzycimski. "We are moving into that final phase."
The official numbers say that 2,300 customers are still out in Marshalltown and the surrounding area, and just a few hundred in Tama County.
Currently, Drzycimski said most of the work being done is work on individual lines, or lines that serve a few customers at a time. That work is not going to be done fast.
At this point, crews are spread throughout Marshalltown, with no one area receiving more attention than any other, Drzycimski said.
"It's hit and miss at this point," he said. "Throughout town there are going to be crews out and they are all in different places."
