I read with interest the article "We will never forget." There are several facts I would like to remind my fellow Americans.
First, this heinous act of 9/11 could not have happened without our inability to stop it. We have laws in place to not allow criminals to get inside the country. America spends more than combined total of the entire world in defense, yet we failed to defend ourselves from 19 hijackers armed with box cutters. What is the DOD doing then? What was the administration with our president doing when they knew before hand that terrorist are plotting to use planes? Did we ask the right questions? Were the people responsible for their inaction punished? Did any high ranking official in the Bush Administration resign or asked to leave? What did the opposition, the Democrats do? Did they ask the right questions? Were they too patriotic to ask the right questions from the administration in charge?
We can remember the event forever but lapses of our administration should be questioned and accountability is one big casualty of this day.
I think it is best for our nation to heal by forgiving and forgetting this horrible action. Psychologists say to heal we need to forgive and forget.
We need to move forward for our own good. If we do not, we would spend few more trillions on unnecessary wars that create no healing but more wounds.
