Colo-NESCO racks up first win against GMG

COLO - Colo-NESCO survived the battle between previously winless Class A District 3 football teams, taking a lead and keeping it against GMG on Friday night.

The host Royals (1-7, 1-3) took a 12-6 lead into the halftime break and tacked on a safety in the third quartert for the final margin, sending GMG to 0-8 overall, 0-4 in district play.

Adam Lytle put Colo-NESCO in front first, scoring on a 3-yard touchdown run. GMG answered on a trick play touchdown pass going 27 yards from Brandon Lolwing.

C-N regained the lead when Anthony Lawson hooked up with Garrett Eley for an 8-yard touchdown pass late in the first half, and the Royals finished off the victory in the second half.

Lytle finished with 38 carries for 193 yards for Colo-NESCO, while Eley tacked on 80 yards on 13 rushes.

Lansana Mohr led GMG with 30 yards rushing in the loss.

GMG will travel to Gilbertville next week to face Don Bosco. Colo-NESCO has a bye week before closing its season at North Butler.
