DES MOINES - One of the oldest rivalries west of the Mississippi was a blowout last year.
An Iowa State roster full of new faces looks to repeat the feat for the Cyclones as they travel to Drake tonight for an in-state men's basketball contest.
Iowa State dominated the Bulldogs for a 91-48 victory in last year's meeting. The 43 points were the largest margin of the victory in the series. Tonight marks the 171st meeting between the two schools, which have played every year except one since 1908.
Scott Christopherson made all 11 of his field goal attempts last year in the matchup for ISU and finished with 29 points. He has made a 3-point field goal in each of the last 35 games.
The Cyclones had a hot night behind the 3-point arc in their last trip to the Knapp Center. Lucca Staiger drained 10 treys in a 20-point Iowa State win in 2009.
Seven Iowa State players took part in their first game in a Cyclone uniform in Saturday's 86-77 victory over Lehigh. Royce White had a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds to earn Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week honors.
