Once again, the season has come to an end at the Marshalltown Farmers' Market, number 26 if memory serve me correctly. Many happy and satisfied customers were able to get fresh vegetables, fruit, jellies, honey, pies, bread, etc. each Wednesday and Saturday.
Of special interest to us vendors were two ladies, age 94 and 95, who have been coming to the market for several years. They would drive their cars to the parking lot, then come to the 20 or more vendors and make their purchases, visiting with friends along the way.
Seeing them enjoying their shopping seemed to make the hard work involved with gardening much more bearable. We thank these ladies as well as all of the other customers for their patronage during the past season.
