I recently read with interest the article about the Williams family. I think the Marshalltown community may be interested in a story about George Williams, when he was in charge of Marshalltown Manufacturing.
My husband, Dale Blair, was working at the factory. In 1946 our baby daughter died at birth, and we could not afford to buy a headstone. My husband asked George to loan him the money to purchase the headstone. George said just take the $30 for the headstone, and did not want to be repaid. Throughout the years, we knew George Williams, and he was always kind and generous.
