Streaky Cyclone women host to Northern Arizona

AMES - Two game-changing runs, two wins for the Iowa State women's basketball team.

The Cyclones take a 2-0 record into today's 5:30 p.m. tip-off against Northern Arizona (2-2) at Hilton Coliseum.

Iowa State used a 35-0 run on its way to downing Houston Baptist in its season opener and followed with a 71-64 victory over Drake on Tuesday. The Cyclones were behind by nine points with less than 6 minutes to go before going on a 17-0 run.

Chelsea Poppens had 16 of her 18 points in the second half to lead Iowa State in Des Moines. Freshman Nikki Moody added 16 points, while Hallie Christofferson finished with her first career double-double (11 points and 11 rebounds).

Amy Patton, a 5-foot-10 shooting guard, is averaging 15.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for Northern Arizona. She was the leading scorer in the Big Sky Conference last winter (16.4 ppg).
