Burglar snatches more than $1,200

A burglar made away with more than $1,200 in a Sunday night incident that was reported at 103 Bohen St.

According to the Marshalltown Police Department, various amounts of cash was stolen from money bags in the home. The burglar made entry through an unlocked door in the garage. The residents were home at the time, but didn't hear the disturbance.

The burglar left a pill bottle behind, which was collected as evidence, and the investigation continues.

Another burglary, of a computer modem from 304 S. Second St., occurred during the same time frame, however is not considered to be connected to the Bohen Street incident, police said.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1904 S. Center St., 308 W. High St., 122 W. Main St., 1211 W. State St., 8 W. Lincoln St., and 608 N. 3rd Ave.

Arian Milton, of Des Moines, made an initial appearance on a theft, third degree charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. Milton was released on his own recognizance.

Tara Nichole Spencer, 407 W. Main St. Apt. #105, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a no registration charge and a driving under suspension charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Marvin Conner, of Laurel, made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 30. Conner was released on his own recognizance.

Nicole Hernandez, 208 N. 12th St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 27. Hernandez was released on her own recognizance.

Jesus Ortiz-Manso, of Waterloo, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Jan. 20. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Pedro Lopez Guido, 608 E. Church St., made an initial appearance on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total $320 due immediately.

Maschelle Joan Duff, of Melbourne, made an initial appearance on a interference with official acts charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately.

Angel Marie White, 403 N. 12th Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $320 due immediately.

Jose Alfredo Cervantes-Reynos, 1110 S. 4th St., made an initial appearance on a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330 due immediately.

Incidents

On Dec. 30, Eric Lyle Luing, of Melbourne, reported damage to the floor of a mobile home at his residence and the theft of a Coby stereo surround sound unit, two black box speakers, prescription medication and a Bissell vacuum. Estimated value of loss was $500.

Arrests

On Jan. 2, Mark Allen Snyder Jr., of Dunbar, was arrested for theft, second degree.

On Jan. 2, Steven Eugene Hunt, of Altoona, was arrested for violation of pre-trial release.

On Dec. 31, Terrance Antonie Parks, 1707 S. 7th Ave., was arrested for driving under suspension, driving while barred, aggravated eluding and speeding.

Accidents

On Friday, a car driven by Darrah Dawn Hasbrouck Schlichte, of State Center, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue West when it struck a deer that had entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hasbrouck Schlichte car was estimated at $3,000.

On Friday a car driven by Victor Michael Narreau, 1015 Finkle Ave., was northbound on Zeller Avenue near Dunbar when it struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Narreau car was estimated at $1,500.

Arrests

On Saturday Brittany Foos, age 18, of Gladbrook, was arrested in Grundy Center for operating while intoxicated. She was released on promise to appear.

On Friday Jordan Stone, age 22, of Dike, was arrested at the Sheriff's Office on a Black Hawk County warrant charging him with probation violation. He posted bond and was released.

On Jan. 2, Alisha Magnuson, age 35, of Lincoln, was arrested at the intersection of D-35 and P Avenue for driving while license is barred. She was released on promise to appear.

On Jan. 1, Craig Huisman, age 60, of Wellsburg, was arrested in Holland for operating while intoxicated, second offense. He was released on promise to appear.

Accidents

On Saturday a vehicle driven by Alex Deppe, age 18, of Waterloo, was westbound on Highway 20 when it struck a deer that entered the traveled portion of the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Deppe vehicle was estimated at $5,800.

On Sunday Jennifer Naughton, 405 W. Church St. Apt. #1, reported damage to a windshield, a rear window and other vehicle parts on a vehicle while parked at her residence. Estimated value of damage was $650.

On Sunday Chanelle Taylor Halverson, 404 N. 14th Ave., reported the theft of a wallet and contents from the women's locker room at JBS Swift. Estimated value of loss was $585.

On Sunday James Anthony Oden, 6 E. Grant St., reported hit and run damage to the trunk on a 1978 Chevy Impala while parked at his residence. Estimated value of damage was $100.

On Sunday Juan Marceleno-Martinez, 5 N. 7th Ave., reported hit and run damage to the left rear bumper on a 2006 Kia Sedona while parked at Family Dollar. Estimated value of damage was $150.

On Friday Jean Saling, 613 N. 3rd Ave., reported the theft of cash in the amount of $148 from her residence.
