The economy is improving although not a the rate promised by the President if the nation would approve his stimulus package. The reality of the action by Congress seems to tax payers monies shoring up companies that donated heavily to his campaign. The term crony capitalism has now joined our vocabulary. The only legitimate shovel ready jobs known in the Midwest were the Canada to Texas Pipeline and the Central Iowa Power Plant. No federal monies were required by either and their approval was sorely sought by the union trades. Both were disapproved by the Democratic political machine within our state and the nation allowing Obama to placate his hard core environmental support base. These decisions required significant monies donated to local candidates. i.e. Iowa (Former Gov. Chet Culver, Sen. Steve Sodders and Rep. Mark Smith). If you are a Central Iowa worker today and unemployed, you may thank these three Iowa Democrats. At least Culver is now politically unemployed as some retribution.
Sending Smith and Sodders to join him in the unemployed ranks after the fall elections, would be the final act of justice. Smith and Sodders are smiling as their campaign coffers are full. Their defeat will be no easy task as the electorate is in denial; believing these "good old boys" would never double cross their own constituents for mere financial support. As the commercial says, "Sorry Charlie the Tuna, these politicians also do not deserve our confidence."
