In every community, there are people who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of others. Many times these individuals are social workers. March is Social Work Month; a time to recognize these dedicated employees found in hospitals, nursing facilities, home health, schools, mental health centers, senior and family service agencies and many other settings.
Cedar Valley Hospice celebrates the many social workers who accompany and aid people through life's difficult situations. In hospice care, social workers are an integral part of the interdisciplinary care team working closely with doctors, nurses, chaplains and other professionals, as they advocate for the patient and family and help to enhance their quality of life. Social workers assist individuals and families with mental, emotional and spiritual stress, child welfare matters, elder care, financial issues, advance care planning, grief and many other every day issues.
As we celebrate Social Work Month, we wish to thank the many professional social workers in our communities who serve individuals and families, providing services that improve lives.
