Man faces felony charge for domestic abuse
Police arrested a Marshalltown man Tuesday evening and charged him with domestic abuse assault and two counts of child endangerment.
Edwin Lugo, 37, allegedly confronted his live-in girlfriend while she was walking with her two children on the 400 block of Summit Street near Rogers Elementary School.
Lugo is accused of then grabbing the woman by the arm in the presence of her 6-year-old and 10-year-old boys, and leaving a large bruise, said Capt. Mike Hanken of the Marshalltown Police Department.
Because Lugo has been convicted twice before of domestic abuse, the charge is increased to a Class D felony.
Lugo is being held on $2,000 bond and a no contact order for the three victims will be issued, Hanken said.
