Drake senior forward Rachael Hackbarth has been selected to the all-Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball first team, the league announced Wednesday.
Hackbarth, who also was named to the all-defensive squad, leads the Valley in scoring (19.3 points per game), rebounding (11.7 per game) and field goal shooting percentage (53 percent). Only once has a player led the conference in all three categories and that was in 1989-90.
The native of Colgate, Wis., has 22 double-doubles to lead Division I. Hackbarth has had a double-double in 15 consecutive games, which is sixth-most in NCAA history for a single season.
Kyndal Clark of Drake is on the All-Freshman team. Clark, a guard from Webb City, Mo., started every game this season for the Bulldogs. Clark is averaging 10 points per game, No. 2 among MVC freshman. Shronda Butts of Bradley, a Des Moines East High School grad, also received All-Freshman honors.
Northern Iowa's K.K. Armstrong was on the all-MVC second team, while Rachel Madrigal was named to the All-Defensive team.
Armstrong averaged 13.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game as a senior guard for the Panthers. She is in the top 4 in the Valley in assist-to-turnover ratio, assists and steals. Madrigal leads the conference in blocks in league play (36).
The league's player of the year awards will be announced today. Casey Garrison of Missouri State, a senior guard, became the sixth player in Valley history to be named first team all-conference four times.
