The refusal by the Marshall County landfill to accept debris from the recent fire on East Main Street would almost be comical if it wasn't a perceived problem.
For decades local industries used and fabricated commercial parts containing asbestos fibers. Asbestos refuse generated from manufacturing and usage was deposited in the local landfills. No apparent environmental or health-related consequences were recorded that I'm aware of.
Most of this "asbestos scare" was perpetuated by liberal politicians, the EPA and the lawyers who continue to solicit for "victims" relating to asbestos.
When oh when are we going to start challenging some of these silly bureaucratic regulations and apply some good old common sense solutions?
