Marshalltown Police Department

Incidents

On Tuesday, Connie Sue Miner, 915 W. Merle Hibbs Boulevard, reported the theft of a 2005 Dodge Caravan. Estimated value of loss was $8,000. The van was recovered in Des Moines.

On Tuesday, Patrick John Hansen, 106 S. 1st St. Apt. #5, reported the theft of a wallet and a Samsung Galaxy S cell phone from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $260.

On Tuesday, Holly Anna Cayou, of Walthill, Neb., reported hit and run damage to the right rear of a 2009 Mercury Milan while parked at Goodwill, 100 La Frentz Lane. Estimated value of damage was $400.

On Tuesday, an employee with Menard's, 2500 S. Center St., reported the theft of a Wagner spray painter valued at $229.

Citations

On March 16, Jessica Ann Hartwig, 404 Melody Lane Apt. #2, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

On March 7, Jessica Ann Hartwig, 404 Melody Lane Apt. #2, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Russell Junior Gentry, 409 N. 7th Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault.

Accidents

On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Roger Purk, of Tama, was southbound on the Center Street Viaduct when the left rear tire broke loose crossed the center line and struck an oncoming vehicle in the front end driven by Joyce Anne Taylor, 2658H Reed Ave. No injuries were reported. Purk was cited for violation of financial liability/accident and failure to have a valid driver's license. Damage to the Taylor vehicle was estimated at $2,200.

Thursday

Kevin Switzer, of Liscomb, made an initial appearance on a aggravated assault charge. He will retain Laura Sopher to represent him in this matter before the court. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on April 24. Bond will continue as posted. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Tiatwas Jawara Waites, 703 W. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana) with the intent to deliver charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his case. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on April 16. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

Monday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a forest, woods or wildland fire at 1904 Merle Hibbs Boulevard, and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1707 S. 7th Ave., 508 N. 5th Ave., 501 Eastview Rd., and 1314 W. Main St.

Tuesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system activation/no fire to 1301 Summit St., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 308 Thomas Dr., 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, 303 Nicholas Dr., and 101 NewCastle Rd.

Wednesday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to an alarm system activation/no fire to 1602 S. 2nd Ave., an extrication of victims from building/structure at 306 Plaza Heights Rd., two dispatched/cancelled en route to 211 W. Church St., and 330 240th St., and a medical assist with the EMS crew to 1703 Edgebrook Dr.

Incidents

On Monday, Shelby Crystal Aman, of Laurel, reported the theft of cash in the amount of $500 from her residence.

On March 24, John Clifford West, of Laurel, reported the theft of a Yamaha Rhino ATV from his residence. Estimated value of loss was $10,000.

Arrests

On Tuesday, Joseph Martin Lewis, of Des Moines, was arrested for violation of probation.

On Saturday, Mary Leann Waltemeyer, of Colo, was arrested for contempt of court/failure to appear.

On March 30, Matthew Scott Hazelwood, 1401 S. 17th Ave., was arrested for absence from custody and theft.
