One of Marshalltown's most well-known authors has been at it again.

Dorothy Francis has just released her new book, "Daiquiri Dock Murder," as the sixth installment in her Key West Mystery series.

"I feel that it's the best book that I've written out of the six," Francis said. "It brings more history with it."

Author Dorothy Francis of Marshalltown holds a copy of her latest book “Daiquiri Dock Murder.” It’s the sixth book in her Key West Mystery series.

The new novel follows a murder on the dock at Key West's Daiquiri Dock Marina and the key suspects. When others wind up dead as well there is even more suspicion and suspense.

Francis has written more than 75 books with much of her earlier work being children's books before she focused on the mysteries. This murder novel, published by Five Star Cengage, was enjoyable for her to write.

"It's fun to write and I hope it's fun to read for people," Francis said. "It keeps their mind busy trying to figure out who did the murder."

Francis has lived in Marshalltown since 1952 with her husband, Richard. The couple has two daughters who live out of state.

The 292-page book is available for a cover price of $25.95 through Amazon.com or BN.com. For more information about her work visit www.dorothyfrancis.com.

Many of her friends and fans have been able to get a copy of the book and the early feedback has been positive.

"They like the suspense of it," Francis said.

Francis is unsure if she has another book in her right now and said she'll think about continuing.

"What would I do if I didn't do this?" she said with a smile.
