BOONE - The Marshalltown Community College softball team hit six home runs to break the program's single-season record, but the Tigers were swept by DMACC in ICCAC Division II play on Wednesday.
Erica White hit two of MCC's six homers but the Tigers (19-17, 8-10) came up short in both games, 13-9 in the opener and 7-6 in the nightcap.
DMACC used an eight-run fifth inning to overcome an 8-5 deficit in the first game. Felisha Durflinger took the loss in the circle for the Tigers, allowing 13 runs - nine earned - on 12 hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Megan Bolten went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Tiger offense, while Durflinger was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. White's only hit was a three-run homer, and Krista Morris added a two-run shot.
In game two, the Tigers trailed 7-2 before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh in a comeback attempt that fell one run short.
Marisa Basham hit a three-run homer in the seventh to spark the Tigers, but it wasn't enough.
White finished with three of MCC's 10 hits in the second game, including a double and a home run.
Durflinger had two hits, including a solo homer.
Stacy Roggentein took the loss, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Ali Miner homered in both games of the doubleheader to lead DMACC (25-12, 12-6).
Marshalltown CC has home doubleheaders on Saturday against Iowa Central and Sunday versus Iowa Lakes.
