Ellen K. Hunt, 94, of Marshalltown, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Bickford Cottage, in Marshalltown surrounded by her family and under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care, in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, in Marshalltown. Ellen was born July 25, 1917, to Albert and Martha Kiesewetter in Marshalltown. She was raised in the Luray area graduating from State Center High School, in State Center. She then attended one year of business school. She was employed for a short timed at Dunham-Bush, in Marshalltown. Ellen was united in marriage to Verle Hunt on Feb. 14, 1943, in Omaha, Neb., and was a homemaker. Ellen was involved in many community organizations including the Community Y, P.E.O. Chapter MJ, 20th Century Club, past president of Starpha, card club, Elks Lodge and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Ellen was an excellent bowler, winning several trophies. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gardening, cooking and baking. Her pecan and pumpkin pies were favorites of family and friends.
Ellen will be missed by her husband of 69 years, Verle, two sons; Joe (Diane) Hunt, of Marshalltown, Ed Hunt, of Marshalltown; two granddaughters: Christine (Cory) McAnelly, of Marshalltown, and Jennifer Hunt, of West Des Moines.
