Drug task force investigates local home

A report of a woman's death has splintered into a drug task force investigation.

Capt. Mike Hanken of the Marshalltown Police Department said police, fire and medical officers responded to a call that a woman in her 50s had died just before 7 a.m. Monday. Upon investigation of the home, 614 Summit St., the MPD contacted the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.

The sheriff's office dispatched the drug task force, but Hanken was not at liberty to divulge the details of what was found at the home.

Hanken said the woman's death is not considered suspicious and is unconnected to the investigation it spawned.

Three other men - one of which was the woman's boyfriend - were in the home when police arrived and were the ones who called police to report the death, he said. Hanken said he did not know if the woman had any family.

No arrests were made as of Tuesday afternoon.

Calls to the sheriff's office were unreturned at press time.
