CONRAD - The BCLUW Elementary school was on lockdown for approximately 30 minutes as a safeguard involving an off-site domestic dispute Tuesday.
"We took precautions until we analyzed the situation and determined no threat had been made to students or staff members," said Superintendent Ben Petty.
The lockdown occurred at about 9:30 a.m., Petty said.
Ron Tordoff, Grundy County Sheriff's deputy, said the dispute was between a husband and wife.
"The school took appropriate steps and went into a brief lockdown," Tordoff said. "Law enforcement responded to the school and it was determined there was no threat at the school."
Petty confirmed there were rumors of a weapon at the school, but said those rumors were unfounded. He declined to say whether the rumor spurred the lockdown.
"There were no weapons on site, and no threat of a weapon being brought to the school," he said.
